Still no difference so bought second-hand fuel pump (£60) of a car which had done 42k miles. While engine in bits, changed timing belt, water pump, idler and tensioner pulleys (£77) and ancillary belt (£13). Also stripped EGR system out, which was in a awful state. The end coming from top of engine was at least 50% blocked with crud!
To prevent most cooling system problems on a Focus MK3 1.0 ECOboost you can basically go 2 different routes: 1: Replace the MK3 degas hose about every 3 Years and inspect it regularly. There is a huge demand for this type of hose (it is out of stock quite often).
Car is a 56 plate Ford Focus TDCi I need to double check (bit of a car numpty), but I think we have the 1.8TDCi (cyclinder capacity is 1753). The Haynes Manual says the 1.6 and 2.0 have a particulate filter, but the 1.8 doesn't.
UK/Ireland Location: Fife. Posted February 8, 2014. the most common problem found is the wiring connector at the throttle body on the engine. The wires break inside the connector so the wirig at both the pedal and throttle body will need checked. Inspect all related throttle body terminals for a loose wiring.
